Orange-sided Thrush

Postby dance4rain » Thu Aug 27, 2009 1:49 pm

Hi all.

Can anyone tell me whether this specie of thrush is protected in Malaysia?
Orange-sided Thrush / Orange-banded Thrush / Anis Cendana (Indonesian language) / Zoothera peronii

They are all names for the same bird. I have looked at the list until my eyes blurred but couldn't find it listed as protected. Just want to double check before I start posting pictures of my Zoothera peronii
Don't want to get into trouble :D

hi Mr Yap,
what i know, if it's not listed in our Wildlife Act, then it's legal to keep, just like Golden Fronted Leafbird, it is not listed.

You know-lah got so many hundreds of birds in the schedule
Actually I did a short cut. I went to perhilitan website and did a search.

hehehe
malaysian bird keepers always must be aware.
yeah, it's easier we check from their web site and don't waste your time to call them. i think half of them can't even know what species are we talking about tho. they will just answer " it's TP and it needs license to keep" coz i had tried b4 one regarding GFLB. they answered " semua burung daun di malaysia adalah salah" :? but Malaysia still Boleh!!!! kakakakka

Yes, its easier for them to say that than to refer to the books / act. Most of the time they will be right hahaha!
Don't talk about rare species, I bet they can't name more than 3 parrots that you can keep without license if you go ask them

Anis Merah is Zoothera Citrina. Yes, its totally protected.
Anis Kembang (another popular songbird in Indonesia) is Zoothera Interpres. Also totally protected.
