Thats a really good way to prevent hawk attacks and yet have your bird enjoy the outdoors and the sun.
I have recently heard a friend of mine who's mata puteh got decapitated by a sparrow hawk. The hawk stepped onto the cage bars, reached in with its long legs and caught the little fella with his talons, one swift bite and its head was gone. My friend ran to the cage and frightened the hawk away, but his mata puteh was already mangled. This is the season of the hawks and we all should take due dilligence in protecting our wards.
However, I wold suppose a near attack by one of these hawks would be enough to do pretty permenant damage to the jambul's psyche. I have one who had a mynah stepped on its cage while resting once. My mistake of leaving him at the corridor. Since then, he has always been looking upwards whenever he is hung outdoors and is only himself when his cage is hung below a shelter.
