Female Song Male Song

Postby JasonBirds » Sat Apr 22, 2017 6:40 pm

I am going to buy a red whiskered bulbul form the pet shop next week.

I have a question I hope someone can answer.

Do female and Male red whiskered bulbul both sing?

I want too keep one as I like their song. Do the females sing as well as males?

The shop owner told me they do not know male or female as they are too young. I worry I will buy a female by mistake as she will not sing as well as a male would.

Thank you.

In bird kingdom. Male bird always sing better and male usually are better colour except our species lady put out more colour than men. Basically you need experience to seek their sexes out.

Here is a guideline which you could follow:-

Theory;-
Normally i usually hold a small finch in one hand, then turn my hand over so that the bird is up-side down on its back and then after a few seconds, slowly open you hand slowly. If it a hen, it will just lay there a few second and if a cock it will flip over immediately and fly off.

I had try this on lots of young baby birds. Lots of time it turn out right.

Got my Bulbul today. He is a youngster and very tame. Just starting to get the red on his face. From the links given I think it is a male... he has a very tall and thick crest that bends forwards a lot. Keeping my fingers crossed!!!!
