i recently i bought a buka mata puteh with a relatively low price. The previous owner already told me that the bird has watery faeces problem because he forgot to put water in the cup. Despite this propblem, i buy it anyway because i love its voice and it buka without fail every morning. Now I only give fruit and no drinking water to avoid long term damage to the cage. It only drink inside bathing cage. Any suggestion on how to cure the habit of excessive drinking problem?
Hi Syahrul,
Glad to hear you have found a bird that is to your liking. The only drawback of keeping this wonderful little songbird is the issue of running out of drinking water and the watery faeces that result. From what other puteh enthusiasts have told me, there is no reliable treatment/cure. Like you, I too hope someone out there has found it and will share it with us.
By the way, since you your puteh has to rely on fruit juice for the greater part of its moisture intake, please make sure that there is ample fruit! It is likely to eat more fruit than dry food too, and you will have to observe closely if it is able to maintain its form.
Best regards,
Peter
