How to train my puteh to peform at bird arena??

I observe that many people like to keep this small bird for their beautiful song. Zosterops (Zosterops Palpebrosa) is normally called 'Mata Puteh" (white eye) in this region.

How to train my puteh to peform at bird arena??

Postby nighthawk » Mon Nov 25, 2013 11:36 am

Hello all experts out there,

I am from SG, keeping 10 mata putehs, almost all already morning call, some can chai but not constant....does anyone wants to share how you train your mata puteh to constantly perform at bird arena. These birds are really hard to please and i believe many of them have given up hope on them. Beside food pellets, vitamins, insects, fruits, honey / nectal and etc etc..........are there any special skill require for them to perform well. Share some of my puteh as below. Appreciate your contributions.

Hi nighthawk,

I am no expert but a simple person who have two mata putehs (new ) from Thailand. I envy you who can have the time to and pleasure to have ten of these lovely birds.

Lucky for you too, being in Singapore you have bird arena, here have hardly any at all, unless you have jumbols. yes the trend is into jumbols, merboks and coocoo. Even the bird shop do not have putehs, i got mine from a friend who travel to the south of Pattani to get myself two and my friend himself two, recently we also converted any Thai to keep two too, so the whole island of Koh Samui only have six putehs. Also in this island we not have wild putehs, if there is we have never seen any.

Glad to have you in the forum, and sorry cannot help you in your request of training aids. but i ahave read many inputs in this forum ways to train your puteh to sing in the arena. happy reading.

Have a good day.

cheers.

inasia :)

Hi Inasia,

Thanks for your input, ya, i was surprise, there're hardly any puteh in Thailand and i wish you luck in finding them adding to your collection, There're abundant here in SG bird shop, mostly from Indo & malaysia. I do keep 7 jambul mostly from Thailand. Have a nice day to you.

Hi NightHawk.

Thank you, but frankly i am very quite happy to have two putehs, two is already a handful to care for, sometimes i wonder how to manage so many, i am curious how you can manage so many birds in your collection. I leave for the office by seven in the morning and i don't return till at least 5.30pm and here the sun set quite early by 6.00 to 6.30pm the sun is already just about to sink below the horizon.

Maybe you can share me your experience how to manage so many birds.

Thank you in advance.

cheers

inasia
